Since launching JazLife, I’ve re-emerged from the “coding basement” and am actively re-engaging with the outside World.

In the past month or so, I’ve attended several networking events and am blown away by the depth and breadth of Toronto’s burgeoning tech startup community. Each gathering highlighted the diversity and strength of Toronto’s hyper-connected social graph:

Sprouter – 300 to 400 people – the “in-crowd” in the Toronto startup community Mobile Monday – 150 people – a diverse group of mobile entrepreneurs and mobile corporate types (lots of suits) C100 – 300+ people – a high-energy group of founders, angels, VCs, LPs, lawyers and accountants DemoCamp – 200+ people – focused group of startup founders, angels, VCs and tech developers

The energy, the activity and the dynamism is a hugely positive indicator that Toronto is definitely on the global startup radar and I can’t wait to see how this community adapts, grows, thrives and flourishes in the years ahead. There is no reason why we can’t see the next Facebook, Twitter or Google emerge in Toronto within the next 5 – 7 years! It’s an exciting time to be Canadian and to be a Torontorian! Tweet
